Dear Applicants,

Request for Expression of Interest to host the Secretariat for the African Seed and Biotechnology Partnership Platform for provision of administrative and logistical support to the Governance Structure of the African Seed and Biotechnology Programme.

1. The African Union Commission (AUC) would like to engage the services of an African institution with a proven record on seed systems development in Africa.

2. The AUC would like to invite applications from legally registered and reputable intergovernmental or regional institutions with seed sector and biotechnology development as their core mandate operating in Africa to submit an expression of interest for the responsibility as per attached Terms of Reference (TORS). AUC policy requires that hosting institutions provide professional, objective, and impartial advice, and at all times hold the Client’s interests paramount, without any consideration for future work, and strictly avoid conflicts with other assignments or their own interests.

3. The host institution will be shortlisted by the African Union Commission, proposed by the second meeting of the Steering Group of the African Seed and Biotechnology Partnership Platform due in April 2021. The selected Institution will be referred to the General Assembly of the Platform for validation and adoption in June 2021. The process will then be referred to the Specialized Technical Committee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Water and Environment for endorsement. After approval, a Host Agreement will be signed between the institution and AUC.

4. Letters of motivation/expression of interest and technical proposal must be submitted by e-mail to NoualaS@africa-union.org with a copy to NakacwaB@africa-union,org.

5. The Deadline for submission is 31st January 2021 at 15:00 hours Addis Ababa Time. Late applications will not be considered.
