The African Union Mission wishes to express its infuriation, disappointment and outrage over the unfortunate comment made by Mr. Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, which remarks dishonor the celebrated American creed and respect for diversity and human dignity.

While expressing our shock, dismay and outrage, the African Union strongly believes that there is a huge misunderstanding of the African continent and its people by the current Administration. There is a serious need for dialogue between the US Administration and the African countries.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 22 January 2018: Under the theme of “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”, the 30th African Union Summit opened Monday 22 January 2018, at the level of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC), meeting at their Thirty Fifth (35th) Ordinary Session. The meeting at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, has brought together Ambassadors of AU Member States based in Addis Ababa as well as Heads of Organs and Representation Offices abroad.
