ECOSOCC convenes CSO dialogue on cross-cutting issues on women, youth, peace and security, and child protection in conflict situations
The Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC), in collaboration with the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), has convened a forum for Civil Society Organisations (CSO) dialogue, knowledge sharing, and capacity building with experts on peace, security, and stability, with a focus on cross-cutting issues such as gender, youth, and the protection of children, indigenous, migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable groups in conflict situations.

The African Union (AU) Commission, in collaboration with the Federal Republic of Nigeria held the Inaugural Lessons Learned Forum on AU Peace Support Operations (PSOs) and the African Standby Force (ASF) from 1 to 3 November 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria. The Inaugural Lessons Learned Forum was aimed at assessing how implementation of AU PSOs have been facilitated; ascertain the various ways in which the ASF have been utilized since its establishment; and identify key lessons that can contribute towards the full operationalization and utilization of the ASF.

Addis Ababa, 30 October 2022: The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, condemns in the strongest terms the horrific terrorist attack that killed more than 100 innocent civilians and wounded many more in Mogadishu, Somalia, on 29 October 2022.
The Chairperson expresses the African Union’s s heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishes speedy recovery to the injured. He conveys the AU’s solidarity with the Government and people of Somalia, at this difficult time.
