At today’s AU Extraordinary Summit on Somalia in Entebbe, Uganda, the AU Commission Chairperson H.E. @ymahmoudali commended Troop Contributing Countries for their sacrifices and called for the swift implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2719. He urged the mobilisation of $190 million to support the AUSSOM transition, emphasised the need for stronger Somali force generation, & stressed the importance of inclusive state-building. “We cannot afford to lose the gains made,” he said, reaffirming the AU’s unwavering commitment to peace in Somalia.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. @ymahmoudali, was today received by H.E. President @KagutaMuseveni at @StateHouseUg. The Chairperson expressed appreciation for the President hosting the Extraordinary Summit of Troop Contributing Countries to AUSSOM & Somalia, scheduled for 25 April 2025 in Entebbe. The two leaders exchanged views on regional peace & security & the AU’s efforts in this regard.

President Museveni congratulated the Chairperson on his election & reaffirmed Uganda’s support for his leadership & mandate.
