The PATTEC Coordination Office in collaboration with Southern African Development Community (SADC) organized a consultative meeting with representatives of five SADC member states in Gaborone, Botswana on 7 – 9 August 2019. The regional consultative meeting brought together fifteen participants including Tsetse and Trypanosomosis experts from Member States, staff of AU-PATTEC and SADC, and PATTEC Coordinators from the region including Kingdom of eSwatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The PATTEC Coordination Office in collaboration with East African Communities (EAC) organized a consultative meeting with representatives of five EAC member states at EAC premises, Arusha, Tanzania on 4 – 6 March 2019. The regional consultative meeting brought together four Tsetse and Trypanosomosis experts from member states and ICIPE-Kenya, staff of AU-PATTEC and EAC, Directors of Veterinary Services and PATTEC Coordinators from the region including Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan and Uganda.

AU-PATTEC organized a regional training workshop for French speaking central Africa countries on application of open source GIS in Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis projects in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the AU HQs, from 24- 28 June 2019. 11 August 2019, Addis Abeba - The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat condemns in the strongest possible terms, the car bomb attack in Benghazi, Libya, that killed five people, including United Nations personnel.

The Chairperson extends his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wishes a swift recovery to the injured.

The Chairperson reiterates his call for an immediate permanent ceasefire, and for all parties to resume, without delay, in genuine national political dialogue for the swift resolution of the crisis in the country
