Le Président de la Commission de l’Union africaine, S.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, a reçu S.E. Hervé Djokpe, Représentant permanent de la République du Bénin auprès de l’Union africaine. Dans le contexte de la récente tentative de coup d’État militaire au Bénin, le Président de la Commission a réaffirmé la politique de tolérance zéro de l’Union africaine à l’égard des changements anticonstitutionnels de gouvernement, ainsi que le soutien ferme de l’Union aux autorités légitimes du Bénin.

The African Union convened a three-day continental technical experts’ meeting to develop a new continental strategic framework and action plan on drug control and crime prevention in Maputo, Mozambique from 18th to 20th November, 2025. This meeting follows the backdrop of a comprehensive end-of-term evaluation of progress by Member States in implementing the nine strategic pillars of the African Union Plan of Action on Drug Control and Crime Prevention (2019 - 2025).

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received H.E. George Orina, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kenya to the African Union, and H.E. Alexis Lamek, Ambassador of France to African Union. The exchange focused on preparations for the Africa–France Summit “Africa Forward”, to be co-hosted by Kenya and France and scheduled to take place in Nairobi in 2026, during which the two ambassadors conveyed the invitation to the Chairperson.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, strongly condemns the deadly drone attack targeting the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) logistics peacekeeping base in Kadugli, Sudan, which resulted in the loss of lives and injuries among Bangladeshi peacekeeping personnel. This reprehensible act constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and an attack on efforts to promote peace and stability in Sudan.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Algiers Agreement, the Chairperson of the Commission , H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, wishes to pay a tribute to the historic achievement of peace that the Agreement represented for Ethiopia and Eritrea, and to the enduring aspirations of the peoples of both sister nations for cooperation and shared prosperity.

The Chairperson extends deep appreciation to the Government and people of Algeria for their role in facilitating and shepherding the negotiations that culminated in the signing of the Agreement.
