Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Outbreak Update: Since the last brief (21 September 2021), 3,259,824 new confirmed[1] coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, including 56,683 new deaths, have been reported globally. To date, a global total of 231,661,257 COVID-19 cases and 4,747,644 related deaths (case fatality ratio (CFR): 2.1%) have been reported from 225 countries and territories to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Republic of Togo and the Republic of Mauritius became the twenty-third (23rd) and the twenty-fourth (24th) African Union (AU) member states to sign the Treaty for the establishment of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) on 20 and 21 September 2021
The Republic of Zimbabwe becomes the eleventh (12th) Member State to deposit the instrument of ratification of the African Medicines Agency (AMA).
