H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

Ground Breaking and Unveiling Ceremony for of the Africa CDC Headquarters Building Project
WHAT: Ground breaking and Unveiling Ceremony to launch the start of the construction work of the Africa CDC Headquarters Building Project (Phase I). The program is jointly organized by the Commission and the Chinese Mission to the African Union, and will be attended by Senior Officials of the Commission, Member States, China and the host country.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) launched a new partnership initiative to strengthen the capacity of Africa CDC to prepare for and respond to public health threats in Africa. The four-year project, ‘EU for health security in Africa: European CDC for Africa CDC', funded by the EU, will also facilitate harmonised surveillance and disease intelligence, and support the implementation of the public health workforce strategy of Africa CDC.
