The 36th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council officially opened today, at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa. The meeting is being held under the AU Theme of the Year 2020, “Silencing the Guns: Creating Conducive Conditions for Africa’s Development”.

The African Union (AU) in 2009, responded to the crisis of high maternal deaths by placing maternal death firmly on its agenda and launched the Campaign for the Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa (CARMMA).
The Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Cameroon, Lejeune MBELLA MBELLA on 5 February 2020, signed two AU Treaties.
The Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Cameroon, Lejeune. MBELLA MBELLA on 5 February 2020, signed two AU Treaties. The signing ceremony took place at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, at the margin of the 33rd AU Summit.
They are:
1. The Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Older Persons; and
2. The Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Persons with Disability in Africa
