The Africa Center for Disease Control (Africa CDC) has committed to enhanced and continued collaboration with the Pan African Parliament (PAP) to ensure African Union policies and decisions on health emergencies are formulated, advocated and implemented. Speaking at a capacitation programme for PAP legislators in Midrand, South Africa, Dr. Lul Riek, Africa CDC Regional Coordinator, noted that the synergies for cooperation have come at an opportune time as the African continent moves into the post COVID-19 era.

Hon. Senator. Chief Fortune Charumbira from Zimbabwe has been overwhelmingly elected as the new President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) at the just concluded Pan-African Parliament (PAP) Ordinary Session of the Fifth Parliament held in Midrand, South Africa. Hon. Charumbira who was nominated to contest for Presidency of the PAP Bureau by his Southern Africa Caucus received 161 votes out of 203 votes cast with 31 members abstaining from voting while 11 spoilt papers were recorded. He takes over from Hon. Roger Nkodo Dang from Cameroon.

The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) commemorated 18 years since its inauguration as the first legislative body of the African Union on the 18^th of March 2004. The commemorative event was held during the “PAP Day”, a day marked on every 18^th March to serve as a reminder to African citizens of the potential of the Parliament, intended as a platform for people from all African states to be involved in discussions and decision-making on the problems and challenges facing the continent.

The Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2021) kicked off with spectacular fanfare on 15^th November. Under the theme “Building Bridges for a successful AfCFTA”, the fair attracted thousands of visitors at the Durban International Convention Centre on its Opening Day.
