Director's message
Despite Africa’s economic growth averaging 5% annually this which generated tens of millions of jobs, last decade, the level of employment creation is not keeping pace with the increase in the number of young job seekers. Actually, it is estimated that youth unemployment is twice as high as the adult unemployment rate. While Labour force in Africa represents more than one third of its population, 60% of young people in this category are unemployed. It is in this context that the African Union (AU) is striving to attract talents, particularly among youth and women. To assist the active population in tackling their challenges, the African Union is helping create opportunities. Today, over 20% of AU employees are less than 35 years old. However, the African Union is not merely attracting the best; it also seeks to ensure that its human resources thrive. The Human Resources Management Division has been set up to carry out both missions. In addition, through its Recruitment Unit, it ensures that the Organization gets the best talents, in the right place and at the right time. Above all, this Department ensures that these resources reach their full potential by providing them with an attractive and enjoyable work environment.
