Promoting Africa’s growth and economic development by championing citizen inclusion and increased cooperation and integration of African states.
Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

OXFAM AND AUC ORGANISE TRAINING ON UNDERSTANDING AND ENGAGING WITH THE AFRICAN UNION AND ITS STRUCTURES
A Capacity Building Training Programme for African Civil Society and Media

Who: Co- hosted by Oxfam International Liaison Office with the African Union (OI-AU) and the African Union Commission Directorate of Information and Communication (AUC DIC)
Objectives
• Acquaint CSOs and media with the mandate, structures and AU organs involved.
• Familiarize African CSOs with the realities of the policy making processes of the African Union.
• Explore and provide a better understanding of the AU and the various entry points and interaction mechanisms available to CSOs and media.
• Enhance knowledge on the AU for media practitioners in order for them to be sufficiently informed as multipliers of information to the African citizens.
• Enhance the opportunities for networking between participants, the African Union Commission experts and member states principles.
Participants: Members of prominent CSOs in the continent as well as representatives of media who will be covering the 20th AU summit
Journalists are invited to cover the official opening ceremony on January 18, at 9:00 am.
