Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

SERIES OF PRESS BRIEFINGS ON MALI AND THE SAHEL, LIBYA AND SOMALIA
Within the framework of the 24th AU Summit, the AU Commission wishes to invite members of the press to a series of press briefings on Thursday, 29 January 2015 beginning at 14:30 HRS on the following issues:
• Briefing on Mali and the Sahel by President Pierre Buyoya, AU High Representative for Mali and the Sahel and Head of MISAHEL;
o Time: 14:30 – 15:00 HRS;
• Briefing on the Situation in Libya by Prime Minister Deleita Mohammed Deleita, AU Special Representative for Libya. He will be accompanied & supported by Amb Mondher Rezgui, AU Special Representative in Libya from
o Time: 15:10 – 15:40 HRS
• Briefing on the Situation in Somalia by Amb. Maman Sidikou, AU Special Representative for Somalia and Head of AMISOM;
o Time: 15:50 – 16:20 HRS
The briefings will be held in Briefing Room 1, at the New AU Conference Center, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and will be moderated by Mrs. Habiba Mejri-Cheikh, Director of Information and Communication, AUC
