What: The Commission of the African Union (AU) will hold the 2nd Extraordinary Meeting of the Specialized Technical Committee on Defense, Safety and Security (STCDSS).

When: 13 January 2015, Opening Ceremony - 9:00 a.m.

Where: African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Plenary Hall, Old Conference Building

Who: Military, Police, and Civilian Experts, Chiefs of Defence Staff and Heads of Safety and Security, African Ministers of Defence, Safety and Security, and the Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs)

Why: To consider the Report of the Chairperson of the AUC on the conduct of the African Standby Force AMANI AFRICA II (AA II) Field Training Exercise (FTX) held from 19 October-8 November 2015.

The conduct of the African Standby Force AA II FTX was endorsed at the 18th Ordinary Summit of the Assembly of the African Union Heads of State and Government held in Addis Ababa in January 2012, to validate the operational readiness of the African Standby Force.
