INVITATION TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA

 

 

Date:                          Friday, 4th November 2016

 

Time:                           10:30 h – 13:00 h

 

What:                          The German Embassy and the African Union Commission will jointly inaugurate an artwork within the new, German-built Julius Nyerere Peace and Security Building. The artwork, a sound installation by the Nigerian sound artist Emeka Ogboh, incorporates famous speeches of some of the founding fathers of the Organization of African Unity, the predecessor of today’s African Union.

                                  The inauguration by H. E. Joachim Schmidt, German Ambassador to Ethiopia, and a senior representative of the African Union Commission, will be followed by a cocktail reception on the 1st floor foyer of the new building.

                                  For interested parties, a short guided tour through the halls of the Peace and Security Building will take place.

                                  During the cocktail reception you will also have the chance to ask questions directly to the artist.

 

Venue:                         Julius Nyerere Peace and Security Building, African Union     Commission Headquarters.

                                   

 

Participants:              Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission, HE Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma; German Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Joachim Schmidt, representative of the ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen), Representatives of the GIZ, Members of the Diplomatic Community; AU Commissioners; local partners and staff of the AU Commission.
