Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

WHAT: African Union (AU) to hold the Meeting of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) on the margins of the 30th AU Summit
DATE: Monday, 29th January 2018
TIME: Beginning at 8:30 am ( A photo session will take place during the meeting)
WHERE: African Union Commission Conference Center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
VENUE: Small Conference Hall 2, New Conference Centre (NCC) AU Headquarters
WHO: The Meeting will be chaired by H.E. Mr. Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of the Republic of Gabon and Coordinator of CAHOSCC
Open Session: The opening remarks will be done by the following personalities:
a. The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).
b. The Chairperson of the African Union (AU).
c. The Coordinator of CAHOSCC.
WHY: Discussion will be based around the following Items:
• Status of CAHOSCC support to the African Adaptation Initiative (AAI);
• Consideration and adoption of draft CAHOSCC Report to the January 2018 Assembly
