Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

INVITATION TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA
What: As part of the Chairperson of the AU Commission H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat efforts to give greater visibility to the AU efforts in the area of socio-economic development, the Chairperson will be visiting the Pan African Veterinary Vaccine Centre’(PANVAC) to inaugurate the AU Continental Vaccine Bank.

The Pan African Veterinary Vaccine Centre’s (PANVAC’s) is the only AU Organization mandated to provide International Independent Quality Control of all Veterinary vaccines in Africa for use in supporting AU Member States’ efforts in controlling and eradicating animal diseases. PANVAC’s mission is to promote the availability of safe, effective and affordable veterinary vaccines and diagnostic reagents. The Mandates of PANVAC includes; Provide International Independent Quality Control of Veterinary Vaccines produced or imported into Africa; Produce and distribute essential biological reagents for animal disease diagnosis and surveillance; Facilitate the standardization of veterinary vaccines production and harmonization of their quality control techniques in Africa; facilitate the development and introduction of improved or new vaccines; and strengthen Africa’s capacity in building veterinary vaccine development, production and quality assurance.
PANVAC was institutionalized under the African Union, within the Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture in 2004.
Journalists are invited to cover the Inauguration of the AU Continental Vaccine Bank on Wednesday, 31 January 2018. Transportation from the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa to Debre Zeit will be handled by the AU Commission.
