What: The General Assembly of the African Union (AU) Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) to elect new Bureau members.

Who: Organized by the ECOSOCC Secretariat / Citizens and Diaspora Organizations Directorate (CIDO) of the AU Commission.

When: 11-12 June 2019

Where: The meeting will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn; Lusaka, Zambia.

Time : 9:00 A.M.

Objectives of the Meeting:

The General Assembly will have the following objectives:
1. Review progress of the 3rd General Assembly of ECOSOCC.
2. Swearing ceremony of elected members into General Assembly.
3. Elections of the ten Sectorial Cluster Committee
4. Induction and Orientation of newly-elected members.
5. Ground-breaking ceremony symbolizing the commencement of relocating the ECOSOCC Secretariat to Lusaka, Zambia.

Participants : Includes representatives of Civil Society Organizations (NGOs) in the ECOSOCC from All African Union Member States, other AU Organs representatives and invited partners and guests.
Participants attending this important event are advised to carry along a valid Yellow Fever Certificate as they may be required to produce the document at the airport.

Expected outcomes:
Top on the agenda of the ECOSOCC will be the election of new members into the 3rd General Assembly of the ECOSOCC and a ground-breaking ceremony commencing relocation of the ECOSOCC Secretariat to Lusaka, Zambia.

Journalists are invited to cover the ECOSOCC General Assembly meeting. The opening session will take place at the Hilton Hotel, Lusaka Zambia starting from 09h00 on 11 June 2019.
