Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

Who: This event is organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) Department of Health, Humanitarian Affairs & Social Development (HHS).
Objectives:
The main aim of this virtual forum is to present, discuss and launch the Concept Note and Roadmap of the Theme of the Year for 2021.
The specific objectives of this Ministerial Virtual Forum are to:
i. Present the Concept Note on the Theme of the Year for 2021;
ii. Discuss key activities and timeframes contained in the roadmap;
iii. Reflect on contributions of AU Member States on the implementation of the roadmap;
iv. Share planned activities and programmes by AU Member States in line with the theme of the year for 2021;
v. Adopt a Ministerial Communiqué on the theme of the year for 2021.
Expected Outcomes
At the end of this Virtual Forum, the following outcomes are expected to be achieved:
i. Concept Note on the Theme of the Year for 2021 disseminated;
ii. Key activities and timeframes contained in the roadmap popularized;
iii. Engagement of Members States in the implementation of the theme of the year for 2021 discussed and agreed upon;
iv. Planned activities and programmes by AU Member States in line with the theme of the year for 2021 shared;
v. Ministerial Communiqué on the Theme of the Year for 2021 adopted and the roadmap launched.
