INVITATION TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA

OVERVIEW: This briefing is a weekly engagement of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) with the media to share critical updates on the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa and the status of implementing the adapted Africa Joint Continental Strategy for COVID-19 Outbreak, including Africa CDC’s response activities and the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines in AU Member States.

The briefing on Thursday will focus on the usual epidemiological situation of COVID-19, highlighting methods of scaling up COVID-19 testing and increasing vaccine uptake across Member States. The director will further expand on other outbreaks happening on the continent and briefly talk about the 41st Assembly of the Executive Council of the African Union taking place in Lusaka, Zambia this week.
