INVITATION TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA

OVERVIEW: This briefing is a weekly engagement of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) with the media to share critical updates on the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa and the status of implementing the adapted Africa Joint Continental Strategy for COVID-19 Outbreak, including Africa CDC’s response activities and the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines in AU Member States.

Thursday’s briefing will focus on the usual epidemiological situation of COVID-19, testing and vaccine situations, as well as changes in the public health and social measures (PHSM) across different parts of the continent as Member States steadily transition to post COVID-19 era. The director will also share highlights from a high-level meeting held in the Eastern Africa region with regards to implementing the Africa CDC New Public Health Order for Africa.
