Africa CDC Weekly Press Briefing on the response to public health emergencies in Africa

INVITATION TO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA

OVERVIEW: This briefing is a weekly engagement of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) with the media to share critical updates on the current state of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and other public health emergencies in Africa.

Thursday’s briefing will focus on the regular updates on the epidemiological situation of COVID-19, the ongoing Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in Uganda and other health emergencies happening on the continent. The Director will also highlight key initiatives Africa CDC is involved with to support Member States, including the Saving Lives and Livelihoods program to scale-up COVID-19 vaccination, as well as other strategic programs to strengthen Laboratory and surveillance systems, and community health workforce (CHW).
