What: Opening ceremony of the twenty fourth (24th) Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union

When: The Extra-Ordinary session of the Executive Council will be held on 15th April 2025. The official opening ceremony will be held at 10:00 am (EAT).

Where: African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa.

Time: 10H00 –17H00 EAT

Who: The 24th Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council is organized by the African Union Commission (AUC). The opening ceremony of the Executive Council Session will take place in the presence of the leadership and officials of the AU Commission, Ministers from the AU Member States, officials of AU organs and offices.

Objective:
The 24th Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council is expected to elect and appoint one member of the Peace and Security Council, one member of the African Union Commission on International Law (AUCIL), and one Member of the African Space Council (AfSC).

Furthermore, the Executive Council will deliberate on the draft report on the election of two Commissioners, i.e. the Commissioner for Economic Development, Tourism, Trade, Industry, Mining (ETTIM), and the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI).
