Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

November 19, 2018: Mr Liu Yuxi’s, the new Ambassador and Head of Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the African Union (AU), Mr Liu Yuxis on Monday a courtesy visit to H.E. Amb. Minata Samate Cessouma, the Commissioner for Political Affairs of the African Union Commission.
Responding, Amb. Samate welcomed and thanked the new Ambassador of China to the Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and African Union. She thereafter, wished him a successful tenure in his new assignment. The Commissioner for Political affairs commended the partnership between the AU and China and concluded that it is one of the most active bi-lateral relationships in the history of the African Union in recent time.
In his response, Mr. Liu expressed gratitude to the management of the African Union Commission for the past constructive partnership between the Government of China and the AU. He indicated that China is highly pleased with the ‘win-win’ nature of the partnership between China and Africa and promised that the China Mission to the African Union under his leadership, will continue to strengthen the engagement between the two on democracy, election, human rights, rule of law and bilateral support for each other at the international level amongst others.
The discussion between the two officials focused on the recently concluded Extra-Ordinary Summit of the African Union and its implications on AU and China partnership. It also touched on how to consolidate the past relationship between the two, particularly on promotion of democracy, election, human rights, rule of law and bilateral support for each other at the international level among other things:
