Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.

H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The Fourth (4th) Ordinary Session of the Specialised Technical Committee (STC) on Migration, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (MR&IDPS-STC)
INVITATION TO THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA
What: The Fourth (4th) Ordinary Session of the Specialised Technical Committee (STC) on Migration, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (MR&IDPS-STC).
When: The Ministerial Session of the STC on Migration, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons will take place, in person, from 23-24 May 2022, in Malabo, The Republic of Equatorial Guinea. The Experts’ Session will be held virtually from 19-21 April 2022.
Who: The STC on Migration, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons will be hosted by the African Union Commission Department of Health, Humanitarian Affairs & Social Development (HHS). The meeting will be preceded by Senior Officials meeting and later on with the Ministerial session.
Why: The 4th Ordinary Session of the Specialised Technical Committee (STC) on Migration, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons will focus on validating an important legal instrument that will contribute to the operationalization of the African humanitarian Agency, Migration governance within and outside the continent and several policy documents that will enhance effective governance of migration, refugees and IDPs issues in the continent and a progress report on the implementation of the Protocol on Free Movement of Persons in Africa. The Meeting will also prepare for the Humanitarian Summit and Pledging Conference that will take place from 25 – 27 May in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
Objectives: The STC on Migration, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons will consider and validate the various legal and policy documents in the areas of humanitarian interventions and migration governance in Africa (i.e. the Statute of the African Union Humanitarian Agency (AUHA); documents in preparation of the African Union Humanitarian Summit and Pledging Conference as well as consider Report of the Senior Officials for the implementation of Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, among other reports).
Participants: The STC meeting will bring together AU Member State Ministers and Experts in-Charge of Migration, Free Movement, Refugees and Forced Displacement Matters.
