Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 25 November 2015: The new Ambassador of Belgium to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, H.E. Mr. Didier Nagant de Deuchaisnes, has presented his Credentials to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma. The letter of credence was presented on Wednesday, 25 November 2015, at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Following the presentation, the AU Commission Chairperson and the newly appointed Permanent Representative exchanged views on the longstanding cooperation between Belgium and the African Union. They also discussed the need to maintain focus on development issues while addressing challenges related to security and stability on the continent.

“Our approach is that we should look at more peace and development, without which many more countries that are stable today could easily fall apart,” AU Commission Chairperson insisted. She added that Africa will focus on transforming its economy, and accelerating development to create stable countries.

The AU Commission Chairperson also congratulated the new Ambassador for his appointment and wished him well during his tenure in office.
