Addis Ababa, 9 November 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, received Mr. Souef Mohamed El-Amine, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Integration of the Union of the Comoros, in Addis Ababa, on 8 November 2017.

During the meeting, the Comorian Minister gave an update on the political situation in his country and the planned organization of a national dialogue, in Moroni, starting from 12 November 2017. In this regard, the Minister requested the accompaniment and support of the African Union.

The Chairperson of the Commission reiterated the African Union's continued commitment to the stability and development of the Comoros and stressed the need to consolidate the gains achieved. In this context, the African Union will closely monitor the National Dialogue, as well as send a delegation to participate in it.
