Addis Ababa, 18 May 2018 – Amb. Alaoui M’Hammdi, former Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco bids farewell to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat at the headquarters of the AU Commission in Addis Ababa.

Amb. Alaoui was the first Ambassador nominated by His Majesty King Mohammed IV of Morocco to the African Union, shortly after the return of Morocco to the AU during its 28th Summit held on 30th January 2017 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Since February 2017, she worked closely and fruitfully with the AU Commission and the PRC for the reinsertion of her country in the institution.

‘Excellency, at the end of my mission at the service of His Majesty, King of Morocco as the Permanent Representative to the Ethiopian and Djiboutian authorities, I come to say good bye and to express my sincere gratitude for your spirit of collaboration.’ She said and also emphasised: ‘we both came in 2017 which is an important year marking the return of my country to its institutional family. Your collaboration has been fruitful.’

H.E. Moussa Faki expressed his satisfaction on the way she carried out her duties as the representative of her country. He also recalled that they both came at a moment when the continent was celebrating the comeback of Morocco as Member State of the AU. “You are a daughter of this continent, our doors will always remain open for you. I am certain that in your new duties, you will continue to serve the continent with the same commitment and to carry the message of its institution,” concluded the Chairperson.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission offered a certificate and a Pin in recognition for good service at the AU, and wished Amb. Alaoui M’Hammdi Nezha all the best in her future endeavors.
