Hague, Netherlands 6th September: the Prime Minister of Mauritius H.E Pravind Kumar Jugnauth appreciated the AU participation in the ICJ oral hearing and praised the strong message the African Union is sending to the Court, to the Chagosian people, to the UK and to the International Community across the world.

The Prime Minister of Mauritius made the statement after the conclusions of the Oral hearing in ICJ for advisory opinion on Legal consequences of the separation of the Chagos Archipelago from Mauritius in 1965’ where he came to show political support to the Mauritian allies and he attended the African Union Statement which concluded the oral hearings.

H.E Prime Minister showed his gratitude to Amb. Dr. Namira, the AU Legal counsel and her team and requested her to transmit a message of thankful of Mauritian people and Government to H.E the Chairperson Mousa Faki for the historical role played by the Organisation on the decolonisation on Chagos.

The message of the Prime Minister was delivered in at a reception organised by the Prime Minister in the Heague on 6 September 2018 after the conclusion of the Oral hearing.
