Addis Ababa, 04 February 2019 – The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, received the credentials of H.E. Mr. Shamlan Al Roomi, the new Ambassador of the State of Kuwait, at the AU Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Chairperson appreciated the longstanding and strong relationship between the State of Kuwait, not only with the Pan African Institution but also with many of its Member States. With regard to the latter, he recalled the donation of One Billion USD offered by His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to African Countries during the Third Africa-Arab Summit in Kuwait City, the State of Kuwait, from 19 to 20 November 2013.
H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat further recalled the States of Kuwait’s donation of the most sophisticated equipment to the Clinic of the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He finally expressed his appreciation for the diplomatic and political roles played by the State of Kuwait in conflict resolution in the Gulf countries.
The Chairperson welcomed the invitation extended to him to visit Kuwait and kindly requested Amb Shamlan to convey his greetings to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait. He assured Amb Shamlan of the AU Commission’s support to the States of Kuwait in its mediation for peace, stability and harmony between the brother countries of the Gulf, as well as the collaboration of the Commission towards the success of the tour of duty of Amb Shamlan.
