The Office of the African Union Youth Envoy launched a youth survey to facilitate the advancement of youth mainstreaming and advocacy for the implementation of progressive policies and impactful actions that promote youth participation, engagement and leadership towards the realization AU Youth Charter and Agenda 2063.

The survey dubbed ‘AU Youth Survey’ is part of an effort to increase the participation of young people across the continent in the development of policies and recommendations that address key issues affecting them.

“Young people are the core for development. They need to be part of the integral process from its onset. This survey is in line with the Youth Envoy’s priority areas; I encourage all youth to get involved, and leverage on this survey to table their need” Ms. Chido Mpemba stated.

She further explained that the roll-out of the Survey provides the opportunity to listen, engage and synergize efforts to better serve the youth under the guidance of the Chairperson of the AUC.

The AU Envoy further added that the outcome of this survey will further contribute to the development of youth-led, meaningful programs and plans of the African Union towards achieving Agenda 2063.

African Youth (including diaspora) are invited to contribute to this knowledge generation process that will be further complemented with a series of physical and virtual consultations. This participatory process will ensure the development of inclusive and robust frameworks and programs for the continent’s Youth.

The listening tour kicked off in Nairobi on the sidelines of the youth pre-summit on humanitarian pledging conference with dialogues with young refugee’s policy group to gain insights that will further contribute to the development of youth-led, meaningful programs and plans of the African Union towards achieving Agenda 2063.
