Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The African Union Commission, Cabinet of the Chairperson, presents its compliments to the Permanent Missions of Non-African States and the International Institutions accredited to the African Union and has the honour to inform the latter that, in lines with the relevant AU Rules and the established practice, the Permanent Missions of non-African countries and International Institutions accredited to the African Union are only invited to attend to the opening and closing ceremonies of the AU meetings.
In this regard, the Commission wishes to invite them to the opening and closing sessions of the 42 nd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 36th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union, scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 15 to 16 February and 18 to 19 February 2023, respectively.
The Commission wishes to further remind that invitations are strictly directed to respective Heads of Non-African Missions and International Institutions accredited to the African Union in Addis Ababa and that the format of participation is 1 + O.
The African Union Commission, Cabinet of the Chairperson, avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Permanent Missions of Non-African States and the International Institutio o the African Union, the assurances of its highest consideration.
