The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Moussa Faki Mahamat, will tomorrow, 2 May 2023, convene a follow-up meeting to the Peace and Security Council meeting of 16 April 2023 and of the Ministerial Special Session on Sudan held on 20 April 2023. The meeting, which will take place at 2:00 pm EAT, aligns with the conclusions and spirit of the Ministerial meeting, which requested the Chairperson of the AU Commission to take appropriate measures to ensure full and efficient coordination of international efforts on the Sudan crisis.

Representatives of all participants at the ministerial meeting are invited to tomorrow’s meeting.

Tomorrow’s meeting, therefore, aims to identify priorities to be addressed, strengthen the unity and cohesion of the international community, consolidate ceasefire, alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, and lay the groundwork for the processes that will return Sudan to the path of transition to democratic, inclusive civilian rule.

Representatives of the pan-African and international press are invited to cover the opening and closing ceremonies of the meeting.
