Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - 25 January 2024: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, congratulates H.E. Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of the Comoros, on his re-election following the presidential election of 14 January 2024, the final results of which were proclaimed on 24 January 2024 by the country's Supreme Court.
 
The Chairperson of the Commission urges all political actors to work for the preservation of peace, stability and national harmony.
He invites them to give priority to peaceful dialogue to overcome their differences.

 The Chairperson of the Commission reaffirms the AU's commitment to support the Union of the Comoros in its efforts to consolidate democracy and the rule of law
