Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

The United Arab Emirates and the African Union today marked a productive deepening of their strategic partnership during an official mission by H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), in Abu Dhabi.
Key Outcomes
H.E. Chairperson Youssouf was warmly received by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE.
In addition, he held consultative meetings with:
UAE and the AUC held their first round of political consultations in Abu Dhabi, building on earlier forums. These consultations focused on aligning mutual priorities and establishing mechanisms for sustained cooperation.
To ensure impact and follow-through, both parties agreed on the establishment of joint working groups tasked with implementing priority cooperation areas and maintaining regular high-level dialogue.
Chairperson Youssouf expressed his gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the invitation and reaffirmed the African Union's commitment to a partnership with the UAE anchored in mutual respect and shared interests.
This visit signals a strengthening of ties between the African Union and the UAE at a time when cooperation on sustainable development, energy transition, peace, and security is more critical than ever.
Both sides emphasised that such partnerships are essential to achieving the aspirations of Agenda 2063 for Africa, and the UAE’s vision for regional and international cooperation.
