AUC Chairperson received members of the UN Security Council at the AU Headquarters
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, today received members of the @UN Security Council at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa.
He briefed them on key AU priorities, including peace & security, development, & governance, & underscored the importance of a strengthened AU–UNSC partnership, particularly through Africa’s representation in the A3.
The Chairperson reiterated Africa’s long-standing call for permanent representation in the Security Council. He urged for the full implementation of Resolution 2719, emphasising that African-led peace support operations are vital for sustainable stability on the continent.
Members of the Security Council commended the AU’s leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening AU–UN cooperation in advancing shared goals of peace, security, & sustainable development in Africa.
