The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, today held a constructive engagement with H.E. Commissioner Idrissa Sow, Chairperson of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) @achpr_cadhp, accompanied by members of the new, & previous Bureau members.
The Commissioners provided an overview of the Commission’s mandate & ongoing activities, as well as avenues to further strengthen coordination & synergies across the African Union architecture.
H.E. Mr. Youssouf commended the ACHPR for its exemplary contribution to the promotion and protection of human and peoples’ rights, and for its important roles. He reaffirmed his personal commitment to supporting the Commission & to encouraging Member States to advance its mandate.
H.E. Commissioner Sow & his commissioners congratulated Chairperson Youssouf on his election & conveyed the ACHPR’s full support as they work together to advance the continent’s shared priorities.
