The African Union Peace Fund Secretariat (AUPF) and the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark today 05 December 2025, formalized a strategic three-year partnership in Addis Ababa, marked by the signing of a DKK 10 Mmillion (Ten Million Danish Kroner) grant agreement to strengthen Africa’s peace financing architecture.

Signed in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Sune Krogstrup and Director Dagmawit Moges, the agreement confirms Denmark’s commitment through the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Denmark in Ethiopia to provide sustained, predictable support to the Peace Fund over the period 2026 - 2028.

The partnership strengthens the institutional capacity of the AUPF, enhances and advances a comprehensive road map for sustainable, African-led peace and security interventions across the continent. By reinforcing core systems and funding predictability, the collaboration directly links institutional strengthening to measurable peace-building impact.

The AU Peace Fund leadership Director Dagmawit Moges expressed her deep appreciation for Denmark’s unwavering partnership and strategic vision: “My sincere thanks to the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark for this important support to the Peace Fund. I would also like to thank H.E. Ambassador Sune Krogstrup for his leadership and steadfast support throughout the preparation of this flagship initiative.”

This partnership advances Africa’s capacity to prevent conflict, sustain peace, and respond decisively to emerging security challenges, while reinforcing shared values of accountability, partnership, and multilateral cooperation.

As the African Union accelerates implementation of its peace and security agenda, this collaboration stands as a strong contribution toward the aspirations of Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.
