Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, was appointed to lead the AU institutional reforms process. He appointed a pan-African committee of experts to review and submit proposals for a system of governance for the AU that would ensure the organisation was better placed to address the challenges facing the continent with the aim of implementing programmes that have the highest impact on Africa’s growth and development so as to deliver on the vision of Agenda 2063.

The forty-third (43rd) Ordinary Session of the Executive Council took place on July 13th and 14th, 2023, starting at 10 AM East Africa Time (EAT) or 9 AM Central Africa Time (CAT). The opening session was held at the UN Headquarters in Nairobi. The session was also broadcast live on the following link: https://livestream.com/accounts/2466140/events/10892409.
The opening session featured speeches from several notable individuals, including:
H.E. Alfred Mutua, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, who delivered the Welcome Remarks.
H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the AU Commission, who made a statement.
H.E. Ahmed Bin Abdulaziz Kattan, former Minister of State and Advisor to the Royal Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in charge of Africa, who also delivered a statement.
H.E. Mr. Dhoihir Dhoulkamal, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the Executive Council, presented the Opening Statement.
