Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Today, we stand at a pivotal moment in our continental journey as we commemorate Pan African Women's Day and celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the Pan African Women's Organisation. This dual celebration connects us to the very foundations of our struggle for liberation, reminding us that African women have always been architects of change, builders of nations, and champions of justice.
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, today received a farewell courtesy call from H.E. Jens Hanefeld, Ambassador of Germany to Ethiopia & Permanent Observer to the African Union.
The Chairperson expressed appreciation for Ambassador Hanefeld’s contributions to strengthening AU-Germany & AU-EU partnerships, including on UN & IFI reform, peace support operations, & bilateral development with AU member states.
The African Union Commission (AUC), through its Pan African Institute for Education for Development (AU-IPED), in partnership with the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA), the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS), and the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), is advancing the validation of a continent-wide framework aimed at transforming how learning outcomes are measured and addressed across African Union (AU) Member States.
Theme: “Human Trafficking is Organised Crime – End the Exploitation”
On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the African Union stands in solemn solidarity with all survivors of human trafficking and in unwavering determination to end this grave violation of human dignity. We join the global community in condemning one of the most devastating crimes of our times.
Educators from over 20 African Union Member States are currently participating in a capacity-building workshop on School-Related Gender-Based Violence (SRGBV), taking place in Yaoundé under the theme: “Empowering Educators to End SRGBV through Teacher Leadership and Advocacy”. The training is to be held from July 28–31, 2025, in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The AU Commission Chairperson, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received UN Deputy Secretary-General @AminaJMohammed today at AU HQ in Addis Ababa this afternoon.
Their exchange reaffirmed commitment to the AU-UN Framework Agreement on enhanced partnership in peace & security, focusing on preventive diplomacy, mediation, peace operations, & sustainable development.
They also reviewed regional security dynamics & underscored the importance of African-led solutions.
