The Africa–China People-to-People Dialogue, a two-day convening of civil society organizations (CSOs), private sector leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from across Africa and China, concluded Friday in Lusaka, Zambia. Organized by the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) in partnership with the Chinese NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE), the P2P Dialogue, which took place from 8-9 May 2025, aimed to deepen mutual understanding and practical collaboration between African and Chinese people.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission H.E. @ymahmoudali received H.E. Mr. Miguel Bembe, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola & Permanent Representative to the AU.

Ambassador Bembe conveyed, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Angola, a formal invitation from His Excellency President João Lourenço to the Chairperson to attend the upcoming U.S.-Africa Summit, scheduled for 22 June 2025. He further informed the Chairperson of preparations for the High-Level Infrastructure Summit, to be hosted under the auspices of President Lourenço on 13–14 October 2025, in Luanda.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission H.E. @ymahmoudali met H.E. Heiko Nitzschke, Germany’s Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa. They discussed urgent funding needs for AUSSOM in Somalia, AU-led diplomatic efforts in Sudan, and the slow progress of South Sudan’s peace deal. Germany reaffirmed strong support for AU leadership in regional peace and stability.

At this morning's Faith Communities Africa2025 conference in Addis Ababa, AUC Chairperson H.E. @ymahmoudali joined H.E. Taye Atske Selassie, President of Ethiopia, alongside ministers, diplomats, & faith leaders. He hailed faith groups as vital partners in advancing the #SDGs, #Agenda2063, & shaping global policy through the AU’s G20 seat. He called for inclusive action, strategic unity, & deeper engagement of religious leaders in driving peace, justice, & development across Africa.
