The following Communiqué has been Drafted and Endorsed by Delegates at the African Union Conference on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and the Official Launch of THE END LEARNING POVERTY FOR ALL IN AFRICA (ELPAF) CAMPAIGN: 

Held on May 30th, 2025, under the theme: “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations”, the Africa Day celebration at the African Union Permanent Representation Mission to the USA, was a successful and a crowd pulling event in Washington.

Call to action urges accelerated investment, cross-border coordination, and vaccine access to eliminate cholera by 2030.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia | 5 June 2025 — In a historic demonstration of political resolve and continental unity, twenty African Union (AU) Member States affected by cholera convened on 4 June 2025 for a high-level virtual meeting, following a call by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and under the leadership of H.E. Hakainde Hichilema, President of Zambia and AU Champion on Cholera.

The African Union Commission (AUC) successfully hosted the Regional Consultation on the Africa Common Position for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) on June 2, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland. Organised on the sideline of the Global Platform2025 (GP2025) for DRR, the event brought together high-level delegations from African Union Member States, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and key development partners in a collaborative effort to refine and strengthen Africa's stance ahead of the Global Platform for DRR high level segment during the week.
