H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

November 16, 2016, Accra, Ghana- The African Union –Economic Commission for Africa –African Development Bank (AU-ECA-AfDB) Land Policy Initiative launched a sensitization seminar on large-scale land-based investments in Africa which opened on Wednesday in Accra. Hosted by the Government of Ghana’s Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the seminar aims to sensitize traditional leaders and orient them on principles for negotiating land investment deals that are sustainable and beneficial to African people and communities.
Yaoundé, November 17, 2016 – The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Cameroon, African Union (AU), Powerplay and the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) have jointly launched the “Together against the marriage of young girls” campaign towards abandoning child marriages on the continent. Statistics have shown that one in five girls (representing 20%) aged 15-19 in Cameroon is married, and globally, about 15 million young girls are forced into marriages before their 18th birthday.

Marrakesh, Morocco, 16 November 2016: Partners of the Climate Information for Development in Africa initiative (ClimDev-Africa), outlined an ambitious second phase business plan to foster and support climate-sensitive development in Africa.
ClimDev-Africa, a joint programme of the African Union Commission (AUC), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) presented components of the new business plan at a side event at the Africa Pavilion at COP 22 on 14 November 2016.
