Moroni, Union of the Comoros May 9th, 2016: The African Union Commission (AUC) announces the arrival of its Electoral Experts Mission on 7th May 2016 in Moroni (Comoros) for the re-run of the presidential and gubernatorial elections scheduled for 11th May 2016 in 13 polling stations in the autonomous Island of Anjouan.

Nairobi, Kenya 6 May 2016 –The 4th Retreat of the African Union (AU) Executive Council opened on Friday 6 May 2016 in Nairobi, the capital city of the Republic of Kenya. During the Retreat, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the AU Member States discussed “ the paradox of rich Africa, poor Africans, on changing mind-set and other relevant issues.” The Ministers exchanged their views on most of the socio-economic and political issues aimed at developing the continent in a very convivial, and heated fruitful debates during the two days meeting.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 4 May 2016: The Human Resources, Science and Technology department (HRST) hosted a technical workshop on the Skills Initiative for Africa. The participants included representatives from the various AUC departments and German International Cooperation (GIZ).The need for a skills initiative was discussed by the Chairperson of the African Union, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, and the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation, Dr Müller in 2015, reflecting the concern of both leaders about the lack of perspectives for many young people in Africa.

Introductory and Planning Workshop African-German Youth Initiative

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 4 May 2016: The Human Resources, Science and Technology department (HRST) is hosting a three day introductory and planning workshop on the African-German Youth Initiative. The workshops aim is to clarify mutual expectations, roles and responsibilities of stakeholders. The African-German Youth Initiative (AGYI) is a multi-lateral initiative of the African Union Commission and the German Government aimed at enhancing youth exchange and mobility between African countries and Germany in the context of education for sustainable development.
