Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 9 May 2016- The inaugural meeting of the governing board of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) was hosted by the African Union Commission at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa. The board comprises ten (10) ministers of health, two (2) representatives of the Commission, two (2) nominees of the private sector and civil society and one (1) representative of regional health organizations.

Addis Ababa, May 11: The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and the African Union Commission (AUC) will hold a Stakeholder Engagement Meeting on 12-13 May 2016 at the African Union Commission HQ, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia themed “Capacity Imperatives for Agenda 2063.”

The meeting will draw representation from various stakeholders in the capacity development sector including Governments and their development partners.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 10 May 2016: Swedish fashion outfit, Hennes & Mauritz popularly known as H&M, is heeding the call of the African Union to boost industrialisation, job-creation and increase Foreign Direct Investment in Africa as the continental Agenda 2063 rolls out. With an established production line in Ethiopia, H&M plans to expand into other parts of the continent, starting with countries in East Africa.

African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights Begins 41st Ordinary Session on 16 May

Arusha, 11 May, 2016: The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) will hold its 41st Ordinary Session from 16 May to 3 June 2016 at its seat in Arusha, the United Republic of Tanzania.

The Judges, among others, will examine over 50 applications and four requests for Advisory Opinions.

African Union Research Grants II Open Call for Proposals 2016 Edition

The African Union Commission launches Phase 2 of the African Union Research Grants programme with an open call for proposals for Research and Innovation in Africa supported by the European Union.
This call for proposal supports Africa’s Science Technology and Innovation Strategy-2024 which addresses the aspirations identified under Agenda 2063 and Priority 3 on Human development of the EU-Africa partnership. The call supports research on: Food & Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA) with particular attention on Sustainable Intensification.
