Arusha, 28 August, 2018: The President and the Vice President of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR), Hon Justice Sylvain Oré from Côte d’Ivoire and Hon Justice Ben Kioko from Kenya respectively, have been re-elected for the second and final term of two years to lead the Bureau.

The closed-door elections were held yesterday at the start of the 50th Ordinary Session at the seat of the Court in Arusha, Tanzania.

The meeting took place in the aftermath of the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in Beijing from 2 to 4 September 2018, in which the Chairperson of the Commission participated.
