Agenda 2063 is the blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future. It is the strategic framework for delivering on Africa’s goal for inclusive and sustainable development and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
H.E President William Samoei Ruto (PhD), President of the Republic of Kenya and the African Union Champion on Institutional Reform. H.E. Ruto was appointed during the 37th Assembly of Heads of State and Government in February 2024 to champion the AU Institutional Reform process taking over from the H.E Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda who led the implementation of the reform process since 2016.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 22 January 2018: Under the theme of “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”, the 30th African Union Summit opened Monday 22 January 2018, at the level of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC), meeting at their Thirty Fifth (35th) Ordinary Session. The meeting at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, has brought together Ambassadors of AU Member States based in Addis Ababa as well as Heads of Organs and Representation Offices abroad.

Addis Ababa, 22 January 2018 – The African Union (AU) during its 30th Assembly of Heads of State and Government holding from 22 – 29 January 2018 in its headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will launch 2018 as the African Anti-Corruption Year. This follows the declaration made at the 29th Assembly of the Heads of State and Government in January 2017. The upcoming Summit of the AU will be held under the theme: “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 22 January 2018: The African Union Commission is set to launch the first AU Agenda 2063 Flagship project, the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 28th January 2018 as a historic event at the African Union Summit, nearly two decades after the adoption of the 1999 Yamoussoukro Decision.
The Commission of the African Union has noted the results of the election of the new Executive Committee of the Pan African Youth Union (PYU) during the Congress held in Khartoum Sudan from the 19th to the 21st of December, 2017. The Commission has also noted the reactions of the various youth organizations and young people who PYU purportedly sent as its representation to the elections.
