Nairobi, Kenya 19th November 2015: As part of concerted efforts to improve the health of the Continent’s citizens and reduce maternal and child deaths, the Government of Kenya and the African Union Commission (AUC), in collaboration with UN agencies and key partners, gathered yesterday 19th November 2015, in Nairobi, Kenya to celebrate the AU’s Campaign on Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa (CARMMA).

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 19 November 2015: The African Union Commission (AUC) will on Saturday, 21 November 2015, receive the Africa Peace Award 2015. The award ceremony will take place in Durban, South Africa, where the AU Commission Chairperson, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma is scheduled to accept the award, on behalf of the AU Commission.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – 17 November 2015: The African Union (AU) has honoured and celebrated the distinguished career of one of Africa’s longest serving women Diplomats, H.E. Ambassador Kongit Sinegiorgis of Ethiopia. Ambassador Kongit spent 52 years and 10 months in the Foreign Service of Ethiopia, during which she witnessed the historic creation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) on 25 May 1963, and its transformation into the African Union on 9 July 2002.
