White Paper on the COVID-19 Crisis and the Seed Sector in Africa: Impact, Options for Actions and Recommendations

Since March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has spread across African countries at an alarming rate, threatening lives and livelihoods. The pandemic has adversely affected people’s health and disrupted the economy across Africa. The Governments are combating the pandemic with mobility restrictions, social or physical distancing measures, prohibition of public gatherings and the closure of non-essential businesses.

Led by the African Union Commission Department for Economic Affairs, the day will be marked under the 2020 theme- "Modernizing National Statistical Systems to Support Sustainable Peace and Development in Africa.”

Angelique Kidjo supports #NoNameCampaign

Angelique Kidjo pledges her support for the No Name Campaign call for action “For Every Child a Legal Identity, For Every Child Access to Justice”. She advocates for consideration of birth registration as an essential government service even during the emergencies such as COVID-19; the Integration of birth registration with health and immunization services as a cost-effective measure; investment in digital solutions for affordable birth registration among other key recommendations.

Le Président de la Commission prend également acte des résultats définitifs de l’élection présidentielle proclamés par la Cour Constitutionnelle et félicite le Professeur Alpha Condé pour sa réélection à la magistrature suprême de son pays.
