Addis Ababa, 18 January 2017-The Peace and Security Council of the African Union on Thursday discussed the health security threats faced by the Continent and agreed on joint strategies with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to respond to infectious disease outbreaks, fight antimicrobial resistance and address the increasing threat of non-communicable diseases on the continent.

The Gender Pre-Summit (GPS) is holding under the theme: “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Africa”. The meeting is chaired by Mrs. Mashair Ahmed Elamin Abdalla, Minister of Security and Social Development of Republic of Sudan and Rapporteur of the Specialised Tecchnical Committee (STC) Bureau on Gender and Women Empowerment.
